Re: Marion Cotillard facts | ||

I think her dad is a stage director and her brother is a sculptor. she's not married but she's dating the singer Sinclair. she's playing Edith Piaf in Olivier Dahan's next film. I think she won the part from Audrey Tautou, but I'm not too sure. both were great in "Un long dimanche"
her bio on Allocin : www.allocine.fr/personne/fichepersonne_gen_cpersonne=17367.html her official site : cotillard.net/html/sec2_MC.php?lang=FRA ![]() that's about all I know, but Melody Nelson 69 might be able to add more .... |

Quote: Hi Ellen Aim, There's actually a search function at the top of this board on the first page. Marion Cotillard has been mentioned here but not in an overly informative way. If you are curious or interested about an actor/actress, (although MN69 is an amazing resource) I suggest you enter their name at google.com or imdb.com and then report back here with pictures and info |

Actually, Audrey Tautou first won the role of Edith Piaf but was then chosen for The "Da Vinci Code" (over Marion hehe) and finally turned down "La Mome".

see what I mean?
Like MercedesT said, Marion Cotillard isn't discussed much here but I happen to like her and think she's a good actress. here's an interesting popularity rating that I found on that French site, where they rated some French actresses. what a coincidence, Audrey Tautou and Marion Cotillard both got the same score-80 % ! Virginie Ledoyen : 31 % Audrey Tautou : 80 % Ludivine Sagnier : 76 % Marion Cotillard : 80 % ![]() Emmanuelle Bart : 76 % Isabelle Huppert: 92 % Sophie Marceau: 70 % Juliette Binoche : 83 % ![]() looks like these ratings were taken from a site called ecrannoir.fr. they have a bunch of other actors rated there. |

The same way, Ludivine Sagnier can be thankful to Vahina Giocante for getting pregnant just before the filming of "8 femmes" (so Ludivine replaced Vahina), Marion can be thankful to Charlotte Gainsbourg for welcoming baby Alice just 2 months before the "Big Fish" shooting (Marion replaced Charlotte)...

She's doing her second film with Albert Finney in "A Good Year" and it's definitely been a good year for Marion Cotillard! After following Eva Green, she's going to be in Ridley Scott's new film with Russell Crowe.
www.zap2it.com/movies/news/story/0,1259,---26617,00.html PARIS (Hollywood Reporter) - French actress Marion Cotillard, best known for her role in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's "A Very Long Engagement," will star opposite Russell Crowe in the French romance "A Good Year." The film is about failed London banker Max Skinner, played by Crowe, who moves to Provence to tend a vineyard he inherited from his uncle, played by Albert Finney. There he encounters Cotillard's character, a beautiful California woman who says she is a long-lost cousin and lays claim to the property. Aaron Eckhart and French actor Didier Bourdon also star. The story is based on the novel by Peter Mayle. Director Ridley Scott is set to begin shooting the Fox project Monday in Provence's Luberon region, where Mayle -- a former colleague of Scott's from the London advertising world -- lives and based another book, his best-selling memoir "A Year in Provence." Cotillard, whose credits also include Tim Burton's "A Good Year," appears in Abel Ferrara's "Mary," set to hit the Venice-Deauville-Toronto circuit next month. She has also signed to play the lead in "La Vie en Rose," based on the life of singer Edith Piaf. It begins shooting in Paris in December. |

I'm not too fond of Marion Cotillard (although i agree she's a very good actress: she was amazing in "Les jolies choses" and she was the best thing about "A very long engagement") but i gotta admit the girl has a lot of ambition! She's such a hard-worker, she has 8 movies already in the can to be released soon, almost one film every month!

Nice job Melody Nelson 69!
imho, Marion Cotillard is one of the most capable french actresses we have today. She's got a reputation for being professional and hardworking, and I think that's why American and British directors are drawn to her. She's serious about her career and always gives honest performances. Unlike some actresses we know who are notoriously lazy and "minaude" too much. That Jacques Brel quote about Belgium |

I've been told today that "Le concile de pierre" has been filmed already and will come out around october! That would make 9 new Marion movies in the can!

Really? I thought they were gonna start in September? Marion is keeping busy isn't she? Where does she find the time to shoot so many movies?
anyway, I think she's a really good actress and has a good shot at having an international career la Catherine Deneuve. |

Re: A Good Year | ||

OK, I have a question. Why is Marion Cotillard playing an American woman in "A Good Year" when it would be easier to get an American actress to play the part? Is she gonna do an American accent? I hope at least that Eva Green gets to play the part of the French lawyer because she'd be great in that.

I know Marion did her own singing in "Les jolies choses" but I read that she wrote one of the songs too?
It looks like she almost did a duet with Madi Roth : www.rfimusique.com/sitefr/article/article_15713.asp Quote: I think more of Bouchez or de Caunes when I think of French actresses who are rock'n'roll. anyway, Cotillard's singing ability will come in handy when she shoots the Edith Piaf movie. |
